5,315 Miles on the Road and I’m Back :)

Well what an incredible family vacation. Good stuff. Right now just trying to recover from my vacation…if that makes sense lol ( I know some of you out there know what I mean 😉 )

Okay so we left on June 15th at 6:30 am  and we got back yesterday July 9th at 5 PM.

Our Road Trip

We started out in San Antonio. And made it to Washington DC. two days later. Enjoyed Fathers Day at my brothers house and his family and spent the day at Six Flags over America in DC (June 18th which was a blast)/ Monday July 19th my family took the subway and saw sights in Washington DC. like the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and White House. Kids were enthralled as we were too.

Left Tuesday July 20th at 6:30 am and made it to Lake George, NY. in upper state New York. Hit Six Flags Great Escape. Stayed there and had a blast Tuesday and Wednesday. Very old school amusement park but it was my youngest daughter’s favorite. 3 days later a girl fell from the tramway ride which was our very last ride we rode there.

Left Wednesday and made it down to Massachusetts ( outside Boston) and hit the Six Flags New England. Stayed there Wednesday and Thursdays. They had the most incredible and largest Water park. Loved it.

Left Friday and rode thru New York City which I have NEVER seen. Made it to Jackson , New Jersey around Noon. And hit the Six Flags

Great Adventure. A great park and they had a safari as well as the tallest coaster in the World. That makes it 4 Six Flags in 6 days

Left Saturday and traveled two days and made it to Hilton Head Island, SC. Stayed at my Uncle’s s beach house for 6 days. It was incredible time on the beach and riding bikes around the enchanting island.

Left Saturday July 1st and made it to Knoxville, TN. Stayed with my parents for 6 days. Great to see them. And got to visit my brother in the nursing home. Had a great 4th of July lighting fireworks at my parents. Saw movies and ate out at my wife’s favorite restaurant in Knoxville called the Chop House.

We left Friday  July 7th and headed to Atlanta. Got there around 12 noon. And hit the last Six Flags over Georgia there. Our 5th Six Flags we got to on this journey. Had great time at their water park. Left the next day on July 8th an made it to Slidell/ Hammond, La.

We decided to check in our hotel later so we made a day trip to New Orleans ( which I have never been to) Great time ! Went to French Quarters and I had a Hurricane which I carried around and sipped on  with two young kids beside me  looking at the sights and drunk people LOL We ate at this famous place called Cafe Du Monde and had my first beignets  which were incredible. Also saw my wife’s childhood school and house where she livewhich was cool

So we made it back to the hotel around 9pm. Got up yesterday July 9th around 7am and made it back to San Antonio in early evening.

Ending with over 5,30o miles driven and a car full of  kiddos having a whole plethora of emotions ranging from “get me outta this car”  to “hey dad lets turn around and start all over  again in DC.”  lol

And a wife just closing her eyes and trying to relive the moments on the beach when she was curled up in her chair and umbrella with her lonesome self reading her Jody Picoult novel with no kids in site.

And a Dad puttering along  and just thankful (as we pulled in the ole neighborhood)  that  although the wife could not get in a one piece at the beach we sure did manage to as a family somehow and someway at the end of this trip 😉

That’s about it from here … over and out 🙂 😉
